Lani Hall was a member of Sérgio Mendes' group Brasil '66 who recorded such songs as "Fool On The Hill" and "The Look of Love." The band toured alongside A&M labelmates (and label founder) Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass in 1966. Lani Hall eventually left Brasil '66 in 1971 and married Alpert in 1974.
With her husband assuming production and arranging duties, Hall embarked on a solo career releasing an album nearly every other year from 1972 until 1987. In 1980, she released her fifth solo album "Blush" which included "Come What May, " a song she recorded with Herb Alpert. The song was released as a single the following year. In 1983, she performed the title song to the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again."
Lani Hall continues to record and in 2008, she reunited with Mendes again, performing vocals on the song "Dreamer" on his album "Encanto."
Come What May
(Words and Music by Allee Willis and David Lasley)
Wish I was your child
Hold me in your heart
We could love so free
and know we'd never part
But I'm not a child
and wishes are just child's play
my love
No, I'll never be afraid
of who I am
and who I'm not
come what may
Wish I was a bird
I'd warm you with my wings
Safe from all the storms
you know true love can bring
But I'm not a bird
and wishes can just fly away
my love
No, I'll never be afraid
of who I am
and who I'm not
come what may
La la la lal la la la
La la la la
Oh, I'm the moon
shining in your eyes
and you're the stars
my love
Now, we'll never be afraid
of who we are
and who we're not
come what may
Of who we are
and who we're not
come what may
Of who we are
and who we're not
come what may
