Meet the lady in the Modi ad | TV Newsance LIVE from West Bengal

We’re not doing our regular TV news programming this week because we are covering the #WestBengalElections. So, we have a small story to share with you from Kolkata. A few weeks ago, the BJP central government published an advertisement with an image of a lady next to PM #NarendraModi. The lady is quoted to say that she has benefitted from #PradhanMantriAwasYojana. When we met her she had a different story to tell. She does not have her own house and, in fact, rents a room for Rs 500 a month. “This advertisement is wrong,” she says.

We also reached out to BJP spokespersons in West Bengal unit for their comment but we were unable to elicit comment. A BJP youth worker around Laxmi Devi’s area, however, said that he met Laxmi Devi and she told him that she trusts Modi and she has been reminded of when the picture for click.
