"Mindfulness has never met a cognition it didn't like"
"Mindfulness in its most general sense is about waking up from a life on automatic, and being sensitive to novelty in our everyday experiences. With mindful awareness the flow of energy and information that is our mind enters our conscious attention and we can both appreciate its contents and come to regulate its flow in a new way. Mindful awareness, as we will see, actually involves more than just simply being aware: It involves being aware of aspects of the mind itself. Instead of being on automatic and mindless, mindfulness helps us awaken, and by reflecting on the mind we are enabled to make choices and thus change becomes possible."
~ Quotes by Dan Siegel
Research has shown mindfulness to significantly improve a wide range of conditions from various eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder. It has shown to be helpful in both the prevention and relapse of chronic depression and substance abuse. Mindfulness practice has the ability to change lives for the better.
"You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it."
~ Albert Einstein
"What you resist persist."
~ Carl Jung
Your mind is an instrument, a tool. It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down. As it is, I would say about 80 to 90 percent of most people's thinking is not only repetitive and useless, but because of its dysfunctional and often negative nature, much of it is also harmful. Observe your mind and you will find this to be true. It causes a serious leakage of vital energy.
~Eckhart Tolle
There is a basic mystery to this energy of mindfulness. It has no color, no weight. You can't grab hold of it. But it is extremely powerful, all on its own. When you direct it at a painful or unpleasant feeling, there is a transformation.
~ Larry Rosenberg
