Seal CHOKED by cotton rope

Seal CHOKED by cotton rope Naude and Antoine from Ocean Conservation Namibia on seal patrol again! They used their binoculars to spot a female seal with a white entanglement around her neck. She was far away and they decided to approach the seal with the car to get as close to her as possible to prevent her from escaping to the water.

Naude used the net to catch the seal. The entanglement turned out to be a cotton rope that had started to unravel. It was a fresh entanglement, she had not been injured, but she visibly struggled to run. She would not have been able to hunt with the rope around her neck.
Naude and Antoine cut her free with our Leatherman Raptor Scissors and she ran off to freedom.
