SO... happy tax day... this year tho it's happy stimulus check day... I got a ton of comments on previous videos saying hey I got mine.. I got my check today... just checked my account and I got my money... so that's good news... congrats to all of you who got their money today... spend it wisely... and if you don't have to spend it and you still have your job and income... then save it.... add it as extra cushion in your savings account... and if your savings account is already good.. consider investing it... I personally use sofi and webull investing apps... webull gives you 2 free stocks when you deposit only $100 and it's a great investing tool... links are in the description for you to check out... 2 free stocks... why not.
Ok... so whats going on with this new irs get my payment app... remember this is for those who already filed 2018 or 2019 tax return and didn't give the IRS direct deposit bank information and now want to get their stimulus check faster .....so you can give the IRS your banking information through that app.....ok...if you dont know... this app is developed to do three things actually... number 1 is to Check your payment status to see when you'll find it in your bank account.... the second thing it'll do is Confirm your payment type whether it's direct deposit or check... finally and most importantly it'll allow you to Enter your bank account information for direct deposit if the IRS doesnt have it already and they havent sent out your payments yet... so you better do this quickly before I believe april 24th so you don't miss the boat and have to wait for your paper check
SO... entering your banking information on the portal... the question I got the most on my last videos is what if the bank account number you gave the IRS when you filed your taxes is wrong or the account is closed or you dont have access to it anymore or whatever... BAD NEWS... here's what they say on their website about that...If we don’t have your direct deposit information from your 2018 or 2019 return – and we haven’t yet sent your payment – use the Get My Payment application to let us know where to send your direct deposit.
NOW... for 2019 filers... those who filed taxes in 2019.... We will send your payment using the information you provided with your 2019 tax return. You will not be able to change it..... so there's your answer if you filed taxes in 2019 and entered wrong bank information or old bank account or whatever... sorry... but you wont be able to update it... the reason I believe is that they're afraid of fraud...
for 2018 filers... those who filed in 2018.... If you need to change your account information or mailing address, FILE your 2019 taxes electronically as soon as possible. That is the only way to let us know your new information.
So basically sorry again... you also cant just update your bank info on this portal.. you'll have to file taxes for 2019 in order to update that... so this might suck for a very specific reason... let's say you are single and in 2018... you made $74,000 and didnt file your taxes for 2019... you'll be getting the entire $1200 stimulus check money... if for whatever reason in 2019 you made $100,000... and you file your 2019 taxes now to update your bank account info... then you'll get nothing... because your income will be higher than the $99,000 upper limit to earn any stimulus money.
