Paper plane - a gently gliding paper hoop Timothy Musson suggested this one and gave the instructions
Timothy's channel
1) Take a square of newsprint (e.g. a newspaper page cut square).
2) Pick one corner, and fold the very tip of it - about 1cm - so it's pointing toward the centre of the sheet.
3) Continue folding inwards from that corner, forming a flat multi-layered strip roughly 1cm in width, until you get to the centre of the sheet.
4) At this point you should have a triangle of paper with a flattened rolled strip along the longest edge.
5) Curl the paper so that the strip forms a nice circular hoop; the ends of the strip will slot into each other. (Glue/tape often isn't necessary.)
The result should resemble a diagonally cut-away cylinder with a hoop at the front and a pointy tail. It should glide pretty nicely :)
Notes:
* The best width for the folded strip depends a bit on the size of the sheet of paper.
* Bigger ones prefer a gentle release from a height; smaller ones can be thrown a bit harder.
[Edit: Actually, just visited PaperPlanes 101 and he does have instructions for pretty much the same thing with extra tweaks (bird wings!). Yay! :) I do recommend trying out the basic version though, incl. experimenting with larger squares of paper.]
