Workers disinfected streets and other public surfaces in Tehran on Friday, as part of the government's measures to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

Footage shows workers with protective gear and respiratory masks disinfecting streets, closed shops, ATMs, and public transport.

Mohamad Reza Karami Nezhad, deputy of Water and Sewerage Department of Tehran Province, said his department has joined the capital's forces in sanitisation.

"We have brought our vehicles and equipment and this is the 20th night that we have been working. We disinfect each neighbourhood of Tehran every night from 10 pm until 4 am. I can say that we have done all of Tehran. We have disinfected 360 neighbourhoods out of 360," he explained.

According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, Iran has over 50,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and more than 3,000 deaths as of Friday.
