Dr Albert McNeill, Dr Michael Moore and Dr Adesh Ramsewak, consultant cardiologists at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry / Londonderry, Northern Ireland outline the work of the Cardiac Investigation Unit following the quick transfer of a patient suffering a heart attack (Myocardial infarction) by ambulance crews to the Catheter Labs, where they immediately receive primary angioplasty treatment. The team outline the advantages of Primary PCI treatment, clearly explaining the procedure and outline the symptoms that patients should be aware of. The importance for patients and clinical staff in the quick transfer of heart attack (MI - Myocardial Infarction) patients to the unit for treatment is emphasised. The production demonstrates the successful implementation of this treatment pathway and the techniques used in a primary angioplasty procedure. This is an amazing insight into the procedure and the fantastic care that can now be received in world-class facilities.
