DEWALT is adding a lot of different lines to their 20-volt tools. Some seem designed to work better with high amp-hour 20-volt tools (Power Detect) and some work better with FlexVolt batteries (Flexvolt Advantage). no matter how you look at this, parts of it are good for the consumer. In this case, the DEWALT DCG416 FlexVolt Advantage is a smaller tool with great power and would complement a FlexVolt Grinder. This is the first FlexVolt advantage tool that seems to stand out and give a reason for someone to own the FlexVolt 60v tool and the FlexVolt Advantage 20V tool.
The DEWALT 20V FlexVolt Advantage 4-1/2" - 5" Paddle Switch Angle Grinder is also the first Flexvolt Advantage tool that seemed to stand out with the FlexVolt battery compared to the 8.0Ah 20-volt battery pack. There was a significant difference between any 20-volt battery pack and the FlexVolt battery pack.
The DEWALT 20V FlexVolt Advantage 4-1/2" - 5" Paddle Switch Angle Grinder is a tool that we believe will be purchased by FlexVolt owners because of its smaller size and good power. Also, when using a FlexVolt battery, this tool will outlast the real FlexVolt in runtime almost 2 to 1. There are a lot of benefits to the smaller 20-volt angle grinder. Power is the only thing that the larger 60-volt FlexVolt tool has over the small FlexVolt Advantage.
Pricing on some of the FlexVolt advantage tools has to start to come down soon. We know the prices are higher with a FlexVolt battery because they are a new style and provide more power, but in many cases, the 20-volt FlexVolt Advantage is more expensive than the 60-volt FlexVolt tool and battery. This should all settle out in the future. If you are looking for a deal, the DCG414 we listed at the top of the description is a kit with 2 batteries and a good grinder for the same price as the FlexVolt Advantage kit with one battery. Granted the DCG414 is the older FlexVolt model, but it still has more power than the DCG416.
