Lenny needs a home to recuperate

Lenny needs a home to recuperate Lenny needs a quiet spot to recuperate.
Lenny’s broken leg is healing up and now we need to work on socialization. We think he is 4-5 years old and probably wasn’t handled much. The shelter is too noisy and too strange for Lenny. He gets scared and doesn’t want to go for walks. Lenny is warming up on a one-on-one basis with people but we think he would be much happier in a quiet, calm home.

Lenny has been recuperating from surgery since he has come into our care. Therefore, we don’t know a lot about Lenny but we know he doesn’t like to be picked up. He is just 10 pounds so we have to resist the desire to lift him up when he is too scared to move.

We believe he should be either an only dog or be in a home with a calm, confident dog of similar size. He is going to need quiet time to settle down from being moved. He utilizes pee pads and uses the doggie door at the shelter to do his business. It would be good if he had a room with a hard floor like a mudroom type space where he could be confined with a bed and that would have easy access to the outside.

We would like this home to have no small children and be a quiet home.

Ideally, we would like him to go into a foster-to-adopt home. Foster-to-adopt means that the home is not committed to adopting Lenny but if it works out, they can and they have first option to adopt him.
